The hard, sun-dried date that Pakistani households have boiled in milk for generations — sourced from Dera Ismail Khan, cleaned and graded properly, not scooped from an open sack.

Nar Chuwara is what happens when the date is left to dry fully on the palm and then cured under the sun until the skin hardens and the sugars concentrate. The result is a firm, chewy, intensely sweet fruit with a far longer shelf life than soft dates — and a place in every desi winter kitchen.

What Exactly Is Nar Chuwara?

Chuwara is the fully dried form of the date. "Nar" refers to the firmer, denser grade — the one traditionally chosen for boiling in milk rather than eating straight from the box.

  • Hard, Dense Texture: Firm to the bite, softens beautifully when soaked or boiled
  • Concentrated Sweetness: Moisture is removed, sugars and minerals stay — a smaller piece delivers more
  • Long Shelf Life: Stores easily for a year or more without refrigeration
  • Dera Origin: From the same Dera Ismail Khan date belt that produces Dhakki
The Winter Ritual — Doodh Chuwara

Across Pakistan, the arrival of cold weather means one thing in the kitchen: chuwara simmering in milk. It is the original desi energy drink — no powders, no supplements, no marketing.

  • Boil 2-3 chuwara in a glass of milk for 8-10 minutes until soft
  • Drink warm before bed, and eat the softened fruit
  • Traditionally taken through winter for warmth, strength and stamina
  • Add a pinch of ginger or a few strands of saffron for a richer version
Why Our Chuwara Is Different

Most chuwara in the market is sold loose — dusty, unsorted, mixed with broken pieces and often a year or two old. Ours is bought from the Dera belt, washed and dried properly, hand-sorted for size and colour, and sealed immediately.

  • Cleaned Before Packing: No grit, no dust, no open-sack storage
  • Hand-Sorted: Broken, shrivelled and undersized pieces removed
  • No Sulphur or Artificial Colour: Natural colour from sun curing only
  • Sealed Fresh: Food-grade inner pouch inside a rigid outer box
Nutrition & Traditional Benefits
  • Iron & Minerals: Long valued in desi households for building strength
  • Natural Warmth: Traditionally taken in winter months for body heat and energy
  • Fibre: Supports comfortable digestion
  • Clean Fuel: A whole-food alternative to processed sweets and energy drinks
How to Use Nar Chuwara
  • Doodh Chuwara: Boil 2-3 pieces in milk, drink warm before sleeping
  • Soaked Overnight: Soak in water overnight and eat in the morning for easier digestion
  • Panjeeri & Winter Sweets: Chop into panjeeri, halwa or homemade energy laddus
  • Eat As-Is: Chew slowly with tea — firm, sweet and long-lasting

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Chuwara and Khajoor?

Khajoor is the soft, moist date eaten straight away. Chuwara is the same fruit fully dried until hard — used mainly with milk, soaked, or in winter recipes. Both come from the same palm.

Is it too hard to eat directly?

It is firm by nature — that is the point. Most people boil it in milk or soak it overnight. Eating it as-is is fine too, just chew slowly.

Can children have it?

Yes, but soak or boil it first for younger children so it softens. Whole hard pieces are not suitable for very small children.

Is sulphur or colour used?

No. The colour comes from natural sun curing. We do not use sulphur treatment or artificial colouring.

How long does it last?

Stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, chuwara easily keeps for a year or more.

Is Cash on Delivery available?

Yes — nationwide COD across Pakistan, with parcel checking allowed before payment.
